About Me

Hi! I'm Liz, a 21 year old college student who began her journey into higher education three years ago when I drove halfway across the country to Purdue University! I've since made it through three years of schoolwork, part-time jobs, extra-curricular activities, and 15 extra pounds courtesy of our very own dining court cooking! Since starting my senior year, I've changed a lot of things about my life. I've finally lost the 15 pounds I gained during my first few years of college, and ventured into the vast culinary world I had before neglected.

I started reading cooking blogs recently, and I soon realized that many of them were focused on the working mom cooking for a family demographic. Now, I've found awesome recipes from these sites that I can't wait to try, but I wanted tips and tricks for the busy college student who barely has time to eat, let alone cook. So, being the proactive, overachiever that I am, I decided to start my own blog. And that is how Culinary Pursuits on a College Campus was born!

I hope that you will join me on my culinary journey through cookbooks, food blogs, and term papers galore! Along the way I hope we will both learn a few things about cooking on a budget; making healthy, good-tasting food; and not slaving away in the kitchen (most of the time!). My plans for this blog include delicious and healthy recipes, time-saving tips, ways to cook on a budget, and tips on eating well even with a busy college schedule.

A little about me, I'm a senior at Purdue (obviously!) who is currently applying to graduate school, finishing up her honor's thesis, and working hard at graduating in May! I am a self-proclaimed school nerd who spends more time thinking about, talking about, and enjoying learning than I do just about anything else. I work part-time as a substitute teacher at a day care and it is the best job in the whole world! 7 hour work days...no problem because I get to be a kid all day! On a more personal note, I live with my boyfriend of almost 3 years, Adam (the lucky taste-tester and sous chef for all of the recipes featured on this blog, except the meat ones), in our apartment here in Indiana. I'm originally from Massachusetts, and if you get me started I will talk your ear off about how amazing my home state is! I miss it every day I'm here in the Midwest, but I wouldn't trade my Purdue experience for anything! In addition to cooking and eating, I love to read, watch TV, dress up, and work out. I'm pretty much your average college girl with a slight passion for cooking amazing food and sharing it with others.

Please enjoy and feel free to leave comments as you join me on my new adventures!
